PADDY HITS THE BULLSEYE

Tournament Sponsorship Excellence from Paddy Power

Paddy Power World Darts Championship Sponsorship Excellence

Even though a 16-year-old sensation stole the whole show Paddy Power still hit the bullseye with their debut World Darts Championship sponsorship. And they did so with a combination of wit, charm and a big charitable cherry on top.

Paddy Power's marketing prowess is no secret; I could write a blog on most of their advertising efforts over the last few years, which I might actually do soon. But for now I am giving them their well-deserved flowers for their sponsorship of the darts.

There was undoubtedly a touch of luck involved in this year's success. It’s as if Paddy Power hand-picked the tournament where a 16-year-old boy took over the sport. He may have looked a bit older but in the words of Will from The Inbetweeners “His mum still buys his trousers”.

Even though there was luck involved I’m glad it was Paddy Power and their marketing team who got to take advantage and not previous sponsors such as Ladbrokes or William Hill. Throughout the tournament Paddy Power blessed us with fantastic TV adverts, hilarious social media, and of course, the ‘Ballon d’Art' trophy.

With all the jokes aside Paddy Power still added that touch of class. Before the tournament started they pledged to donate £1,000 for every 180 thrown to Prostate Cancer UK, and with a record 832 180s thrown in the tournament, they decided they might as well round the total donation up to a Million.

That’s not just a marketing stunt; it’s a genuinely beautiful contribution.

British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak even credited Paddy Power's 'THE BIG 180' campaign with helping to save lives after driving a five-fold increase in the number of men checking their risk of prostate cancer over the past month.

So here’s to many more events sponsored by Paddy Power; if they are anything like this one, which I’m sure they will be, I’ll be singing their praises once again.
